Many substations are reaching the age of needing repairs or modifications to stay current with today's energy demands.  Substations that were built 50 years ago may not have drawings available to use to make these changes.  By using point cloud technology in 3D scanning, existing brownfield structures can be updated with much greater precision.  Once these scanned images are combined with DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations intelligent 3D design the window for errors is drastically diminished.
